1. How did you choose your neighborhood? We were here for a house hunting trip and had heard lots of good things about Stapleton. We liked the vibe of the community, so it made it easy!
2. What is your favorite feature of your location? New construction – low maintenance.
3. How long have you lived in the area? 1 year
4. Where is your favorite local spot? Jim-N-Nicks. I grew up in Birmingham, AL where Jim-n-Nicks is a local chain. When we were here on our HH trip, I saw it pull up on Yelp. I told David that there was no way it was the same Jim-n-Nicks, but sure enough…it was! Come to find out, Denver is the only western city where they have locations!

My Clients and Their Neighborhood – Platt Park

Pearl Street 4Platt Park is a large and very popular neighborhood centrally located between Downtown and the Denver Tech Center areas. Platt Park’s boundaries are Broadway on the west, I-25 to the north, Downing to the east, and Evans on the south. The area consists of tree-lined streets that showcase a variety of homes, from the late 1800’s original build bungalows to new contemporary single family homes, condos and apartments.  While its central location, easy access to I-25 and two light rail stations make it very easy to get anywhere in Denver within minutes, the neighborhood’s popularity is also driven by its easy walk-ability, access to parks and the ever popular South Pearl Street district, with its numerous restaurants, boutiques and eclectic shops. With one of Denver’s largest urban in-fill projects underway on the northwest corner of the neighborhood, in the old Gate’s factory site, the area’s appeal is expected to just continue to grow as new shopping, dining and recreation options are added.

My Clients and Their Neighborhood – Chaffee Park/Zuni Park/Regis

zuni park

The Chaffee Park neighborhood, bordered on the West by Federal Boulevard, on the north by Adam’s County Line (52nd Ave), on the south by Interstate 70 and on the east by the railroad tracks, is desired because of its proximity to Downtown Denver. A neighborhood filled mostly with single family homes surrounding the beautiful Zuni Park, also sits directly across from Regis University. Zuni Park is located on the northern part of the neighborhood with several picnic areas, a play ground, two softball fields and a football play area. I-70 allows easy access to the mountains and hiking trails as well as downtown Denver and fun city activities like the Denver Aquarium, Rockies games, Avalanche games and Bronco’s games.

Please meet Erica and John Scott who love living in the area:

My Clients and Their Neighborhood – Park Hill

parkhill

Today’s active families will find the charms of this vibrant community to be as compelling as ever. Park Hill’s international mix of families enjoy short strolls to some of Denver’s finest cultural attractions and shopping. On the west is lake-graced City Park, home to the highly regarded Museum of Nature and Science, Gates Planetarium, IMAX Theatre, Denver Zoo, and Municipal Golf Course.  Park Hill is bordered by MLK Blvd to the north, 23rd Ave to the south, Quebec to the East and Colorado Blvd to the West.  Although residents enjoy a serene lifestyle sheltered from the urban hubbub, Park Hill is just 10 minutes by car from Downtown; world-renowned Cherry Creek Mall Shopping District; and countless retail stores, restaurants, and hotels along Colorado Boulevard.  Park Hill’s residents are fond of walking to Spinelli’s Italian Market for gourmet meats and cheeses, fresh baked breads, scrumptious desserts, and more.

Please meet a couple who recently moved to the neighborhood and love it:

1. How did you choose your neighborhood? We were looking for a neighborhood that was within biking distance of downtown and that felt authentic and diverse. We started researching the neighborhood by driving in and walking our dogs around on the weekends to get a feel for the place and we loved it!

2. What is your favorite feature of your location? The ethnic diversity in the neighborhood and the fact that there a lot fewer houses being scraped and re-built.

3. How long have you lived in the area? Two months.

4. Where is your favorite local spot? There are so many! Bistro Barbes is outstanding with its offering of French/North African cuisine in a small intimate place. The Bike Depot, a non-profit bike shop, is a new favorite with their excellent customer service and the fact that they donate bikes to low income individuals. And the little strip on 23rd and Dexter hosting Spinneli’s market, Cherry Tomato, and the little bakery/coffeeshop is a life-saver.

5. Use one word to describe your neighborhood. Communal

My Clients and Their Neighborhood – Platt Park

Platt Park is well known for the community. As a very family friendly, walk-able neighborhood there are tons of activities to choose from throughout the year. Platt Park has a people’s association that meets periodically and organizes neighborhood activities. As an active member, there are organized happy hour gatherings to get to know fellow members and brainstorm new ideas for neighborhood functions. On top of the happy hours the committee has planned several other fun activities as the spring and summer months are upon us.

In 1860 Platt Park was named after the founder of Platt Paper company, James Platte. It was incorporated as part of Denver South that was formed to limit the creation of more saloons and roadhouses in Denver.
